Captain America: Homecoming # 1 is a 2014 one-shot comic written by Fred Van Lente with art by Tom Grummett. Set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it takes place between the events of The Avengers (2012) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).

The story focuses on a personal mission for Steve Rogers as he adjusts to the modern world:

  • A Trip to Brooklyn: Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) visit Steve's old childhood neighborhood in Brooklyn. While there, they stop at an old-fashioned soda shop for milkshakes.
  • The Threat: Their "day off" is interrupted when a mercenary group known as The Cadre attempts to kidnap Professor Amanat, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who works for S.H.I.E.L.D..
  • The Conflict: The mercenaries use a jammer to prevent the heroes from calling for S.H.I.E.L.D. backup. Steve and Natasha suit up in their Winter Soldier-era gear to track down the signal jammer and defeat the mercenaries in a series of action-packed battles across the neighborhood.
  • Conclusion: After rescuing Professor Amanat, Steve reflects on how much his home has changed, ultimately telling Natasha, "You can go home again".
  • Characters: Steve Rogers (Captain America), Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), and Professor Amanat (based on Marvel editor Sana Amanat).
  • Bonus Content: The print issue typically includes a reprint of Captain America #117 (1969), which features the first appearance of Sam Wilson (The Falcon).
  • Cover Art: The main cover was illustrated by Mark Bagley.
