Captain America: Reborn # 1 2009 VF/NM

Captain America: Reborn # 1 released in July 2009, is the opening chapter of a six-issue limited series that reveals the truth behind Steve Rogers' death and initiates his return to the Marvel Universe. Written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Bryan Hitch, the story picks up after the events of Captain America #600 during the Dark Reign era. 

"Part 1"

The issue establishes that Steve Rogers was not actually killed by the assassin's bullets, but was instead "unstuck in time". 

• The Discovery: Sharon Carter, Falcon, and Vision meet with Hank Pym to investigate the gun used to "kill" Steve. They discover the weapon used technology from Doctor Doom that froze Steve in time and space rather than ending his life.
• The Infiltration: While their allies investigate, the current Captain America (Bucky Barnes) and Black Widow infiltrate a H.A.M.M.E.R. Helicarrier to steal a device from Arnim Zola that they believe can save Steve. Their mission is complicated when they are confronted by Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers, specifically Ares and Venom.
• Steve's Journey: The narrative shows Steve Rogers experiencing "flashbacks" that are actually him physically reliving key moments of his past, such as the day he received the Super-Soldier Serum.
• Villainous Alliance: Norman Osborn meets with Arnim Zola to discuss the Red Skull's plan to retrieve Steve Rogers and use him for a more sinister purpose.
