Convergence # 3 2015 NM-

Convergence #3 (2015) is the third issue in the main miniseries, focusing on the escalation of Telos' "battle royale" and a major turning point for the Earth-2 heroes.

Plot Summary

The issue, titled "Time Bomb," continues the journey of the Earth-2 heroes as they navigate the sentient planet. 

• The Sacrifice of Thomas Wayne: In one of the issue's most significant moments, the Earth-2 Batman (Thomas Wayne) makes the ultimate sacrifice. Realizing he is out of the miracle drug "Miraclo" that maintains his strength and facing a horde of Batman's arch-nemeses from the pre-Flashpoint Gotham—including Professor Pyg and The Riddler—he detonates an explosive on his person to kill as many villains as possible and save Dick Grayson.
• The Destruction of Kandor: Telos visits the bottled city of Kandor (from the Earth-One timeline) and demands they join the fight. When Nightwing and Flamebird lead the Kandorians in a peaceful refusal to be puppets, Telos responds with overwhelming force, raining destruction down and leaving the city in ruins as a warning to others.
• The Discovery of Skartaris: Guided by the mysterious sorcerer Deimos, the remaining Earth-2 heroes (Green Lantern, Val-Zod, and Flash) travel through a tunnel to find the hidden underground world of Skartaris. They believe a weapon or secret hidden there might be the key to defeating Telos.
• Dick Grayson's Injury: After Thomas Wayne's sacrifice, Dick Grayson is shot in the spine by the Joker, leaving him paralyzed—a dark parallel to the injury of Barbara Gordon in The Killing Joke. Telos intervenes, killing the Joker and demanding Dick reveal where his companions have gone.
