Convergence #5 (2015) is the turning point of the series where the "Battle Royale" premise is hijacked by a new villain, shifting the stakes from city vs. city to a fight for the multiverse itself.

Plot Summary

The issue focuses on the heroes of Earth-2 as they navigate the shifting power dynamics on the planet Telos. 

• The Rise of Deimos: The ancient sorcerer Deimos (from the Warlord series) emerges as a major threat. He successfully imprisons Brainiac and defeats the planet's guardian, Telos, effectively taking control of the entire world.
• The Revelation: Deimos reveals the truth to the gathered heroes: Brainiac didn't just save these cities; he took them to harvest their timelines. Deimos claims he can save everyone, but his true intent is to use the chronal energy of the inhabitants to become a god.
• The Alliance: Realizing Deimos is a far greater threat than the "games" they were forced to play, the Earth-2 heroes (led by Dick Grayson and Alan Scott) begin to form an alliance with versions of heroes from other timelines to stop him.
• The Oracle: The cosmic entity known as the Oracle appears in the New 52 universe, sensing the massive temporal instability caused by Deimos' actions, signaling that the entire DC Multiverse is in danger of collapsing.
