Convergence: Green Arrow #1 (2015) is a tie-in issue for the Convergence event that features the return of the pre-Flashpoint version of Oliver Queen and his son, Connor Hawke. It was written by Christy Marx with art by Rags Morales.

Plot Synopsis

The story finds Oliver Queen living in a version of Metropolis that has been trapped under Brainiac’s dome for a year.

  • The Dome Life: Like other heroes in the event, Oliver has been powerless and trapped. During this year, he has focused on his relationship with his son, Connor Hawke. The two have been operating as a team, using their natural archery skills to help the citizens of the domed city without the need for trick arrows or high-tech gadgets.
  • The Challenge: When the dome is finally dropped by Telos, the planet’s sentient voice, the heroes' powers (and specialized equipment) are restored. Telos commands the trapped cities to fight for survival.
  • The Opponents: Oliver and Connor are targeted by the Kingdom Come versions of the Dinosaurs (a group of high-tech mercenaries). Specifically, they face off against Checkpoint and other members of the battalion from that alternate Earth.
  • The Conflict: The issue focuses heavily on the bond between father and son. Oliver expresses deep pride in Connor’s skills, and the two have to rely on their combined tactical prowess to survive an ambush in the city streets.

Key Themes

  • Legacy: The issue highlights the mentor-student dynamic, emphasizing that Connor is a more than capable successor to the Green Arrow mantle.
  • Resourcefulness: Unlike many other Convergence battles involving cosmic powers, this fight is grounded in street-level combat and elite marksmanship.

The story concludes in Convergence: Green Arrow #2, where the archers must finish their fight against the Kingdom Come battalion.
