Convergence: Green Lantern/Parallax #1 (2015), written by Tony Bedard with art by Ron Wagner and Bill Reinhold, features a powerless Hal Jordan imprisoned for his crimes as the villainous Parallax, visited by his successor Kyle Rayner during the year the city is domed.
Plot Synopsis
The story is set in the domed city of Metropolis, which comes from the pre-Zero Hour timeline, a year into the Convergence event where all superpowers have been nullified.
- Hal's Imprisonment: Hal Jordan, having come to his senses after the events that led to Coast City's destruction and his turn to villainy, has voluntarily imprisoned himself in the police station. He is tormented by the memories of murdering the Green Lantern Corps and the Guardians of the Universe, believing he is solely responsible for those acts.
- Kyle's Visits: A powerless Kyle Rayner, who had only been Green Lantern for "5 minutes" when the dome went up, visits Hal daily to remind him that he was possessed by the fear entity Parallax, not acting entirely of his own free will.
- The Dome Drops: When the dome disappears, both heroes' powers return instantly. The entity Telos announces the cities must fight for survival. This moment also sees the return of the powerful and nihilistic Parallax entity within Hal Jordan.
- The Conflict: Hal, as Parallax, is initially angry at himself for his year of self-pity and resolves to destroy whoever trapped them. Kyle tries to stop him, but they are attacked by Princess Fern and the forces of Electropolis (from Earth-Six).
- Parallax's Vengeance: Enraged by the preemptive strike against Kyle, Parallax flies off alone, vowing to destroy the entire city of Electropolis, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown.
