Convergence: Justice League of America #1 (2015), written by Fabian Nicieza with art by ChrisCross, features the return of the fan-favorite "Justice League Detroit" team from the pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths era.
Plot Synopsis
The story follows the often-mocked Detroit-based League as they face a multiversal threat while trapped on the planet Telos.
- Life Under the Dome: For a year, the team has lived in a domed version of Metropolis (though some reviews note they are in Gotham for this story), stripped of their powers. Elongated Man (Ralph Dibny) and his wife Sue have spent the year in domestic peace, while others like Commander Steel survived on life-support machines due to their cybernetic natures.
- The Return of Powers: When the dome falls, the team’s powers are restored. Ralph and Sue share a rare, joyful moment together before the group is thrust back into action.
- The Opponents: The team is pitted against the Secret Six from the Tangent Universe, an alternate reality where classic hero names belong to entirely different, reimagined characters (such as an elemental version of The Atom and a mystical The Joker).
- The Ambush: While training in a warehouse, Ralph, Vibe, Vixen, and Steel are caught in a massive explosion triggered by the Secret Six.
- The Cliffhanger: The "heavy hitters" of the Detroit League—Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Zatanna—rush to the rubble, only to find themselves ambushed by the Tangent invaders just as the rest of their team rises from the debris to join the fight.
