Convergence: Wonder Woman #1 (2015) is a tie-in to the Convergence event focusing on the Pre-Flashpoint (pre-New 52) version of Wonder Woman and a very pregnant Steve Trevor, as they contend with a Gotham City populated by characters from the Kingdom Come universe.
Story Synopsis
The issue, titled "Grounded," takes place in the domed Gotham City from the Pre-Flashpoint DC Universe.
- Life Under the Dome: Wonder Woman, having been stripped of her powers for a year while trapped under the dome, has been living a quiet life with a very pregnant Steve Trevor (this relationship was a product of the reality-altering conditions of the Flashpoint event, which the characters are trapped within). They live in a repurposed embassy and have been focusing on survival and adjusting to a world without powers.
- The Dome Falls: When Brainiac's dome falls and powers are restored, Wonder Woman finds herself isolated from her Amazonian sisters and her traditional support network. The city she's in isn't her own Themyscira or her usual Metropolis; it's a Kingdom Come Gotham.
- The Kingdom Come Invasion: Immediately, champions from the Kingdom Come Earth-2 reality arrive, intent on battling the "lesser" city for survival as dictated by Telos' rules. This includes the older, jaded versions of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman from that popular timeline.
- A Battle of Ideals: The two Wonder Women come face-to-face. The Kingdom Come Wonder Woman views her Pre-Flashpoint counterpart as a weak, "grounded" figure who has lost her warrior's edge, particularly due to her domestic situation with Steve Trevor. The Pre-Flashpoint Wonder Woman, conversely, fights to protect her future and the life she built, proving her strength is more than just raw power. The issue ends with their fight escalating.
