Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Green Arrow #1 (2022) is a one-shot tie-in to the Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths event. It explores the "paradise world" created by the villain Pariah to imprison Oliver Queen after his apparent death.
Plot and Premise
The issue features two primary narratives exploring different "dream world" realities for Green Arrow and Black Canary.
- The Medieval World: In the lead story, "Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Green Arrow," Oliver is a medieval Robin Hood-style hero protecting peasants from Sheriff Malcolm Merlyn. This world eventually collides with a dystopian urban reality where Dinah Lance is a nightclub owner, as the two heroes' deep connection forces their individual prisons to merge.
- The Armored & Futuristic World: The backup story, "Till Death Do Us Part!", shows a different failed experiment by Pariah. In this version, Oliver is an armored, tech-based vigilante and Dinah is a high-tech police officer in a city patrolled by the "Birds of P.R.E.Y.".
- Core Theme: The issue reveals that Pariah had to repeatedly rebuild these worlds because Green Arrow and Black Canary are soulmates whose bond is so strong they inevitably find each other across any reality.
Creative Team
The 40-page special features two distinct creative teams for its stories:
- Lead Story: Written by Stephanie Phillips with art by Clayton Henry and colors by Marcelo Maiolo.
- Backup Story: Written by Dennis Culver with art by Nik Virella and colors by Romulo Fajardo Jr.
