DC K.O. #1, released on October 8, 2025, is the opening chapter of a major five-issue crossover event that pits DC’s greatest heroes and villains against one another in a multiversal martial arts tournament. Written by Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson with art by Javi Fernández, the series is described as a high-stakes "battle royale" to save the universe from a newly empowered Darkseid. 

Core Premise 

The story centers on a transformed Earth that has become a "hellscape" fueled by the Heart of Apokolips. To stop Darkseid from reaching his final form as King Omega, the Justice League must enter a gladiatorial tournament. The goal is to generate enough Omega Energy to crown a champion who can challenge Darkseid directly. 

Issue #1 Highlights 

• The Tournament Hook: The issue establishes a 32-character bracket featuring heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman alongside villains like Lex Luthor and Cheetah.
• The Twist: A major shock occurs when Batman is killed early in the issue, and the Joker unexpectedly takes his place in the official tournament lineup.
• Corruptive Stakes: As fighters progress through the tournament's five levels, the proximity to the Heart of Apokolips begins to corrupt them, forcing allies to potentially betray one another to win.
• True Antagonist: It is revealed that Darkseid has been observing from the shadows by possessing the body of Booster Gold.
