DC Universe Online Legends # 1 2011 VF+

DC Universe Online Legends # 1, released on February 2, 2011, is the debut of a 26-issue bi-weekly limited series that serves as an expansion of the storyline from the DC Universe Online (DCUO) video game. Written by Marv Wolfman and Tony Bedard, the series explores a gritty, alternate-future timeline where the world's greatest heroes and villains have decimated each other, leaving Earth vulnerable to an even greater threat. 

"Legendary" 

The story picks up directly from the game's famous cinematic opening. 

• The Final Battle: Set in the ruins of Metropolis, Lex Luthor finally kills Superman with a kryptonite-tipped spear, standing victorious over the corpses of his rivals.
• The Betrayal: Luthor's triumph is short-lived as Brainiac reveals he used Luthor's obsession to eliminate Earth's defenders. Brainiac begins releasing exobytes to catalog and then delete all life on the planet.
• A Desperate Alliance: Realizing he has been played, Luthor escapes in a pod and initiates a secret protocol to rally the few remaining survivors. He manages to rescue a small, disparate group of heroes and villains—including The Atom, Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes), Doctor Fate, and Power Girl—to build a resistance against Brainiac's "Eradicator" robots. 
• Protagonist/Villain: Lex Luthor, a future version of the character who becomes humanity's unlikely last hope.
• Antagonist: Brainiac, the cosmic conqueror who outmaneuvers the world's greatest criminal mastermind.
