Deadpool: Masacre #1 (2016) is the English-translated version of the Spanish-language comic Deadpool Tres Punto Uno #1, which introduces the character Masacre, the self-proclaimed "Deadpool of Mexico". The issue was created by writers Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan with art by Scott Koblish.

Character Origin and Plot

The comic focuses on the origin story of the character who becomes Masacre.

  • The Priest's Revelation: The man who becomes Masacre was a dedicated priest in Mexico until the day Deadpool visited his church and made a confession. This confession convinced the priest that the world was inherently evil and deserved punishment.
  • Becoming Masacre: Inspired by the original Deadpool, the former priest made himself a similar outfit and adopted the name Masacre (Spanish for "massacre"). He decided to "fix" Mexico by acting as a brutal vigilante.
  • Vigilante Justice: In the issue, Masacre tracks down and eliminates the local crime lord Calavera de Jade and his henchmen. He uses twin machetes as his primary weapons.
  • Joining the Mercs: After his mission in Mexico is complete, he bids farewell to a local police inspector, Jaime Gordón, and travels to the United States to join Deadpool's mercenary team, the Mercs for Money.

The comic uses a "poorly translated English" gimmick for humorous effect, reflecting its origin as a Spanish-first comic made for the Mexican market.
