Death of Hawkman # 1 2016 NM

Death of Hawkman # 1, released on October 5, 2016, is the first issue of a six-part miniseries that ignites a war between the planets Rann and Thanagar. Despite the title, this first issue focuses heavily on Adam Strange and his efforts to return to his adopted home. 

The story begins in media res on a battle-ravaged Planet Rann, showing Adam Strange and a severely wounded Hawkman (Katar Hol) struggling through the ruins. 

• Life on Earth: The issue flashes back to Adam Strange living a mundane life on Earth, missing his wife Alanna and waiting for a Zeta-Beam to transport him back to Rann.
• The Sabotage: When the Zeta-Beam fails to connect, Adam uses his Justice League credentials to investigate, eventually getting help from Cyborg.
• The Conflict: On Rann, millions have been killed in a seemingly unprovoked attack. Alanna Strange, grief-stricken and angry, blames the "winged warriors" of Thanagar for the destruction.
• The Return: The Zeta-Beam finally locks on, teleporting Adam back to Rann. He arrives in full gear only to find his home city of Ranagar in total ruins, setting the stage for an all-out interplanetary war. 
• Adam Strange: An archaeologist turned space hero who is the primary protagonist of this issue.
• Hawkman (Katar Hol): A Thanagarian warrior who knows his people were framed and seeks to prevent a war.
• Alanna Strange: Adam's wife, who is calling for vengeance against Thanagar.
• Despero: The hidden mastermind manipulating both planets into a genocidal conflict.
