Plot & Synopsis

Acting as a bridge within the official video game canon, the narrative explores the deep misery and destruction spreading across Sanctuary following the cataclysmic events of Diablo IV and its first expansion, Vessel of Hatred.

The story focuses on Derris, a desperate warrior whose barbarian tribe is in dire need of a miracle. With their tribal leader gravely ill, they have traveled far to seek out Akarat, historically known as a revered champion of the poor and downtrodden. Whispers have spread across Sanctuary that Akarat has miraculously risen from centuries of death to heal the world with Holy Light, feeding the hungry and curing the sick.

The Dark Twist: Unbeknownst to the hopeful refugees, the entity wandering Sanctuary is not a savior, but a hollow corpse actively possessed by Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred. In the shadow of this false savior's "miracles," a terrifying new Age of Hatred begins to take root.
