Dial H for Hero # 1, released on March 27, 2019, is the debut of a 12-issue limited series published under DC’s Wonder Comics imprint. Written by Sam Humphries and illustrated by Joe Quinones, the issue reintroduces the classic "H-Dial" concept—a mysterious device that grants ordinary people random superpowers for one hour when they dial "H-E-R-O". 

Plot Summary 

The story introduces Miguel Montez, a teenage daredevil living in the small town of Devil's Canyon, California. 

• The Adrenaline Junkie: As a child, Miguel was saved by Superman during a near-death experience, an event that left him obsessed with recapturing that feeling of flight and exhilaration through dangerous stunts.
• The Discovery: While working at his uncle’s mayonnaise-themed food truck, Miguel attempts a perilous bicycle stunt that goes wrong. As he falls into a canyon, a glowing red rotary phone appears. A voice on the line, known as The Operator, tells him to "Dial H" to save his life.
• Transformation: Dialing "H" transforms Miguel into Monster Truck, a muscle-bound, 1990s-style extreme superhero. After trashing a car dealership in this form, he reverts to human form and flees town in a stolen food truck with Summer Pickens, a local runaway.
• The Cliffhanger: The Operator calls again, warning Miguel that he must protect the H-Dial from the Thunderbolt Club, a villainous faction desperate to possess it.

• Artistic Homage: A unique feature of the series is that the art style shifts whenever a character transforms. For Miguel's first turn as Monster Truck, Quinones adopts a Rob Liefeld-inspired 90s style, complete with cross-hatching and gritted teeth.
