Doctor Strange # 1 released on June 6, 2018, begins a new era for the character under the creative team of Mark Waid and Jesus Saiz. In this series, Doctor Stephen Strange loses his connection to Earth's arcane power and must seek new sources of magic in outer space.

• The Problem: The Eye of Agamotto is closed, and Doctor Strange has lost his access to Earth's magic. Nightmares and mystical threats are pressing against reality, but without his powers, Strange is helpless.
• The Solution: An unexpected ally, Tony Stark (Superior Iron Man), offers a high-tech solution: "When astral travel fails, try astronautical travel".
• Intergalactic Quest: Strange becomes the "Space-Explorer Supreme," traveling beyond the stars to find new spells, allies, and enemies, uncovering unseen corners of the Marvel Universe along the way.
