Elseworld's Finest # 1 1997 NM-

Elseworld's Finest # 1, released on August 6, 1997 (cover-dated October 1997), is the first of a two-part limited series written by John Francis Moore and Kieron Dwyer, with art by Dwyer and Hilary Barta. Part of the "Elseworlds" line, the story reimagines Batman and Superman in a 1920s pulp adventure style. 

"Book One" 

Set in the spring of 1928, the narrative follows Clark Kent, an adventurer searching for his lost origins, and Bruce Wayne, a jaded soldier-of-fortune. 

• The Mission: Clark Kent learns that the League of Assassins has kidnapped Professor Lang (Lana Lang's father). Clark, Lana, and Jimmy Olsen travel to Paris to recruit Bruce Wayne to help save him.
• The Global Chase: The quest takes the group to Egypt, where they discover the League is attempting to resurrect Ra's al Ghul.
• The Villains: The League of Assassins is working alongside Alexi Luthor, a villainous mastermind reimagined as a "Captain Nemo-style" figure who attacks the heroes' steamer.
• The Reveal: Ra's al Ghul reveals his plan to use a legendary Argosian artifact known as the Godstone to destroy and recreate the world.
• The Transformation: During an escape attempt, Bruce Wayne collapses in a cave in front of a statue of the wizard Kha, foreshadowing his transformation into the "Dark Knight" while Clark begins to realize his own alien powers.
