Fantastic Four # 375 March 2, 1993 (cover-dated April 1993), is a double-sized issue celebrating the series' 375th anniversary. It is most famous for its prismatic foil cover and as the climax of the "Rise of Doom" storyline.
"It's Always Darkest Before the Doom"
The story serves as the final chapter of a five-part arc where Doctor Doom has achieved a new, god-like power level.
- The Summoning: The Watcher (Uatu) breaks his vow of non-interference to summon the Fantastic Four and their allies to the moon to face the threat of Doom.
- The Battle: The team is joined by the Inhumans and faces Doom in a desperate battle. Reed Richards successfully uses Black Bolt’s voice to power a device capable of stripping Doom of his stolen energy.
- A Devastated Team: The issue highlights the physical and emotional toll of recent events:
- The Thing: Ben Grimm's face is horribly scarred from a previous confrontation with Wolverine's claws, forcing him to wear a helmet.
- Invisible Woman: Sue Storm continues her shift toward a more aggressive, violent personality influenced by her "Malice" persona.
- The Traitor: It is revealed that Sharon Ventura (She-Thing) had been spying on the team for Doom in exchange for a cure to her condition.
Given its anniversary status, the issue features numerous guest stars and cameos:
- Guest Stars: The Inhumans (including Black Bolt and Medusa) and Lyja the Laserfist.
- Cameos: Spider-Man, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange.
- Writer: Tom DeFalco.
- Artists: Paul Ryan (Pencils) and Danny Bulanadi (Inks).
