Forever Evil #4 (2014) is the midpoint of the New 52 event, intensifying the conflict between Lex Luthor's Injustice League and the Crime Syndicate as allegiances shift and Batman's contingency plans come into play. The issue is known for a major character return and an unexpected confrontation.

Story Synopsis

The issue, titled "Injustice League," brings several storylines to a head as the battle for Earth continues.

  • Batman & Catwoman's Plan: After surviving the Crime Syndicate's initial attack, Batman takes Catwoman to the Batcave for the first time in the New 52 continuity. He reveals his contingency plans designed to take down the Justice League, which he hopes can be used against their evil Earth-3 counterparts. They then head to Wayne Enterprises to gather parts.
  • Lex Luthor's Backstory & Alliance: Lex Luthor's team (Bizarro, Captain Cold, Black Manta, and Black Adam) also converges on Wayne Enterprises. During this time, Luthor shares a surprisingly tender, humanizing moment with Bizarro, offering him encouragement and explaining his own past insecurities.
  • The Clash & Power Ring: The two groups unexpectedly meet at Wayne Enterprises, leading to immediate conflict and confusion over who survived the Syndicate's arrival. This confrontation is interrupted by Power Ring and a group of Secret Society members, leading to a fight.
  • Batman Wields a Sinestro Corps Ring: In a desperate move to fight Power Ring, Batman uses a low-powered Sinestro Corps ring from his arsenal of contingency weapons.
  • Sinestro's Return: The low-power yellow ring is quickly destroyed by Power Ring, but the energy pulse attracts the attention of the true master of fear. The issue ends on a major cliffhanger with the dramatic arrival of Sinestro himself, ready to confront Power Ring.
