G.I. Combat # 1, released by DC Comics on May 2, 2012, is the debut of an anthology series launched as part of The New 52's "Second Wave". It replaces the canceled Men of War and features two primary stories that blend traditional military action with science fiction and espionage.

Synopsis: A group of contemporary soldiers on a mission in the Sea of Japan have their helicopter downed by a flock of pterodactyls. They are forced to crash-land on an uncharted island where prehistoric animals, vintage tanks, and modern military hardware coexist in an endless war of attrition.
