G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero # 115 published by Marvel Comics in August 1991, concludes the "Benzheen Conflict" (Trucial Abysmia) storyline. The issue is titled "Counting Coup!", a reference to a Native American tradition where a warrior touches an enemy with a stick to prove bravery without necessarily killing them.

The story focuses on a high-stakes aerial reconnaissance mission:

  • The Mission: After Ace and Dogfight return to the USS Flagg in a badly damaged plane, General Hawk suspects Cobra is building secret installations.
  • Surveillance: Hawk dispatches Slipstream and Captain Jeffries (Ghost Rider) in the stealth X-19 fighter to fly over Benzheen.
  • Discovery: The mission successfully captures photographic proof that Cobra has violated their agreement with the Emir by establishing Terror Dromes on-site.
  • The Escape: Ghost Rider flies the stealth fighter at low altitude through heavy anti-aircraft fire and spotlights to escape the darkened city after Cobra Commander cuts the power.

  • First Appearances: This issue marks the first appearances of Rampart, Aero-Viper, Hurricane, and Adder.
