Generations: Captain Marvel & Captain Mar-Vell # 1 (2017), subtitled "The Bravest," is a one-shot issue that bridges the legacy between Carol Danvers and the original Kree hero, Mar-Vell. 

The story occurs when Carol Danvers is pulled through time to a period shortly after Mar-Vell received his Nega-Bands but before his terminal battle with Nitro. 

• Negative Zone Battle: Carol finds herself on the planet Mydon within the Negative Zone, which is currently under invasion by Annihilus and his insectoid forces.
• The Reunion: Carol encounters Mar-Vell, her fallen friend and predecessor. They join forces to defend the local citizens and push back Annihilus's invasion.
• The Legacy Theme: Carol struggles with the emotional weight of seeing Mar-Vell alive again, knowing his eventual fate. The issue highlights the "Captain Marvel" mantle as a legacy worth upholding.
• Return to Present: At the end of the battle, Carol is whisked back to her own time, just after the events of Secret Empire.
