Ghost Racers # 1 (2015) is a high-octane tie-in series for the Secret Wars event, reimagining the Ghost Rider mythos as a lethal bloodsport. 

The story takes place in the Killiseum, a massive arena in Doomstadt on Battleworld. This arena is managed by the villain Arcade, who hosts the "Ghost Races"—hellish, high-speed competitions used to entertain the planet's citizens. 

• The Competitors: Cursed souls known as "Spirits of Ignition" are forced to race in deadly circuits. The first-place winner earns temporary freedom from the arena, while the losers are sent to dungeons to be tortured by Chief Zadkiel, who can control their spirits.
• The Champion: Robbie Reyes (driving his Hell-Charger) is the reigning champion and a celebrity of the races.
• The Conflict: Despite his success, Robbie is burdened by the knowledge that his fellow racers—including Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch, and Alejandra Jones—are brutally punished for losing.
• The Motive: Robbie’s primary motivation for winning and surviving the arena is to protect his younger brother, Gabe Reyes, who remains under the watchful eye of the Killiseum's management. 

The series is notable for its creative and extreme redesigns of classic Ghost Riders: 

• Robbie Reyes: The "Hell-Charger," the only racer with a car.
• Johnny Blaze: The legendary "original" rider.
• Danny Ketch: The 90s spirit, often referred to as "Danny Boy" in this series.
• Alejandra Jones: Known as the "Nicaraguan Hellfire".
• Carter Slade: A radical redesign where the character is a centaur-like "Satan Stomper" in ghost mode.
