Ghost Rider # 1 2017 NM-

Ghost Rider # 1 January 2017 (Volume 8) features the return of Robbie Reyes as the Spirit of Vengeance. Written by Felipe Smith and illustrated by Danilo Beyruth, the issue reintroduces Robbie’s unique world in East Los Angeles while connecting it to the broader Marvel Universe. 

"Hell on Wheels"

The story begins with a mysterious object from space crash-landing in Southern California. This anomaly attracts some of Marvel's most brilliant minds to Robbie's neighborhood, including Amadeus Cho (the Totally Awesome Hulk). 

• The Conflict: Robbie continues to balance his life as a high school student and mechanic with his role as a supernatural avenger. He remains possessed by the ghost of his villainous uncle, Eli Morrow, leading to an internal struggle for control over his lethal instincts.
• Marvel Team-Up: The issue sets up an encounter between Robbie and the Hulk. Meanwhile, the Wolverine (Laura Kinney) also arrives in Los Angeles to investigate the cosmic crash site.
• Backup Story: A secondary story features the reunion of Robbie’s original creators, Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore, introducing an all-new villain for the series. 

Unlike traditional Ghost Riders who ride motorcycles, Robbie drives a possessed 1969 Dodge Charger known as the "Hell-Charger". 

• Origins: He gained his powers after being gunned down by mercenaries while trying to earn money for his disabled brother, Gabe. He was resurrected by the spirit of his uncle Eli, a satanic serial killer.
• Motivations: Robbie’s primary drive is the protection of his brother, though he constantly battles Eli’s bloodlust to ensure he only targets the truly wicked.
