Green Arrow #1 (2010), published by DC Comics with an August cover date, launched a new ongoing series as part of the Brightest Day event. Following the devastating events of Justice League: Cry for Justice, it depicts Oliver Queen living as an exile in a mysterious, supernatural forest that grew in the ruins of Star City.
Plot: "Man of the People"
After being banished for the murder of the villain Prometheus, Oliver takes refuge in a lush, dangerous forest created by a White Lantern Ring.
- A Modern Robin Hood: Living in the woods, Green Arrow begins a crusade against the corruption rebuilding in the city, literally stealing food from wealthy fundraisers to give to the poor.
- The Corporate Conflict: While Oliver is in exile, Isabel Rochev (The Queen of Bialya) takes control of Queen Industries. She views Oliver as having run the company into the ground and orders a hit on him.
- The Forest Mystery: Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) attempts to investigate the forest, but his power ring fails upon entering, leading to a confrontation with Oliver under a massive tree bearing the White Lantern symbol.
