Green Arrow #1 (2011) launched as part of The New 52, a massive relaunch of the entire DC Comics universe. This issue reimagines Oliver Queen as a younger, tech-savvy corporate CEO who operates as a globe-trotting vigilante supported by a high-tech team known as Q-Core.

Plot Summary: "The Midas Touch"

The story introduces a more impulsive and "cocksure" version of Oliver Queen who uses cutting-edge weaponry and illegally obtained intelligence to hunt outlaws.

  • The Mission: Green Arrow travels to Paris to take down a group of super-powered criminals—Doppelganger, Dynamix, and Supercharge—who film their crimes and upload them to social media for fame.
  • Corporate Tension: Back in Seattle, Oliver struggles to balance his life as the head of Queen Industries with his secret activities. He relies on his Q-Core team, including assistants Jax and Naomi Singh, for field support and trick arrow development.
  • The Conflict: The issue establishes a divide between Oliver’s "playboy" public persona and his serious vow to never let people die when he has the power to save them.

Creative Team and Characters

  • Writer: J.T. Krul, who also wrote the character's pre-New 52 series.
  • Artist: The legendary Dan Jurgens (pencils) and George Pérez (inks) provided a "retro, optimistic" visual style.
  • Key Appearances: Features the first appearances of Jax, Naomi Singh, and the corporate antagonist Walter Emerson.
