Green Arrow/Black Canary Wedding Special #1, published by DC Comics in November 2007, is a landmark one-shot that finally sees the long-term, on-again, off-again couple walk down the aisle. The issue is famous for its massive guest list and a shocking twist ending that directly leads into the subsequent Green Arrow/Black Canary ongoing series.

Plot Summary: "And They Said It Wouldn't Last"

The story begins with a retrospective of Oliver Queen and Dinah Laurel Lance's complex history before shifting to the chaotic preparations for their wedding.

  • The Wedding Crashers: While the DC Universe's greatest heroes attend the ceremony, a massive group of villains led by Deathstroke and the Injustice League attempts to crash the event. A large-scale battle ensues between the wedding guests and the villains.
  • The Ceremony: Despite the interruptions, the couple successfully completes their vows.
  • The Shocking Twist: On their wedding night, Black Canary is forced to kill "Green Arrow" in self-defense after he enters a trance and tries to murder her. It is later revealed that the man she married was actually the shapeshifting villain Everyman posing as Oliver, while the real Oliver Queen had been kidnapped.
