Green Lantern #20, released on May 22, 2013, is a 66-page oversized special that serves as the epic conclusion to Geoff Johns' nine-year tenure on the title. It provides a definitive finale for major characters and the "Wrath of the First Lantern" crossover event while establishing the future of the Green Lantern mythos. 

Plot Synopsis

The story is framed through a narrator in the future—a new recruit named Snow—reading the legendary history of Hal Jordan from the Book of Oa. 

• The Final Battle: In the present, the First Lantern, Volthoom, threatens to rewrite reality. To stop him, Hal Jordan returns from the Dead Zone as a Black Lantern, summoning Nekron to finally defeat the cosmic entity.
• Sinestro's Role: Sinestro merges with Parallax to combat Volthoom but maintains control over the entity. After the battle, he takes revenge by killing nearly all the Guardians of the Universe, sparing only Ganthet and Sayd to live in peace together.
• Final Exchange: The issue features a poignant final moment between Hal and Sinestro, where Sinestro admits they will "always be friends" before disappearing into deep space.
