Green Lantern: Dark #1 (2024) is the debut of a seven-issue limited series published under DC's Elseworlds imprint. It reimagines the DC Universe as a post-apocalyptic dark fantasy wasteland where monsters have triumphed over heroes.

Main Plot

Set on a corrupted Earth where the sun's rays are dwindling, humanity struggles to survive against supernatural threats. The story focuses on a world that has been without a protector for years after the "Green Lantern"—a figure wielding a mystical green flame—vanished.

In the coastal ruins of New England, a young girl named Lunette clings to the legend of the Lantern as a lighthouse for humanity. Her faith is rewarded when the fabled hero, now revealed to be Rina Mori, resurfaces. However, this version of the Green Lantern is gritty, uninterested in making friends, and haunted by her predecessor's role in the resurrection of Solomon Grundy. Grundy now leads a massive undead army that grows more powerful each night, setting the stage for a horror-tinged battle for survival.
