Green Lantern: The Lost Army #1 (2015) launches a six-issue miniseries where a small group of Green Lanterns wake up in an unknown, dying universe with no connection to the Central Power Battery.

Main Plot: "The Lost Army"

The story begins in medias res with John Stewart leading a displaced squad of Lanterns—including Kilowog, Arisia Rrab, Two-Six, and Xrill-Vrek—against mysterious, orange cloud-like entities they call "Cleaners". These beings act like universal white blood cells, attempting to "clean" the Lanterns as foreign matter from their realm.

The Lanterns discover they are stranded in a sector of space where they cannot locate Mogo or any known power source, forcing them to conserve their rapidly depleting ring energy. Amidst the chaos, John Stewart experiences flashbacks to his time as a Marine sniper, illustrating how his military background influences his aggressive, tactical approach to being a Green Lantern.

The issue features two major surprises:

  • The Renegade Krona: The Lanterns find themselves allied with a younger, less-insane version of the renegade Guardian Krona, who is curious about their rings and claims to have lost his memory.
  • Guy Gardner's Arrival: The issue concludes with the arrival of Guy Gardner, who appears wearing both a Green Lantern and a Red Lantern ring, having also been mysteriously pulled into this unknown space.
