Guardians of the Galaxy: Mother Entropy # 1 May 3, 2017 is the debut of a five-issue standalone limited series. It was created by legendary cosmic Marvel writer Jim Starlin and acclaimed artist Alan Davis to provide a classic, accessible experience for fans of the films.
"The Call to Duty"
The story follows the team—Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot—as they find themselves in deep financial trouble.
- The Debt: The Guardians owe money to nearly everyone on the space station Knowhere. To clear their names, they are forced by the local "Knowhere Coppers" to accept a seemingly simple escort mission.
- The Escort Mission: Their task is to transport a holy man and a powerful, mysterious jewel back to his home planet.
- The Twist: The mission quickly unravels when they encounter Pip the Troll, a longtime companion of Adam Warlock and a recurring character in Starlin's cosmic epics.
- Mother Entropy: The issue introduces a new cosmic threat: a mysterious, other-worldly entity intent on consuming all living things with a fungal mould.
