Hawk & Dove # 1, published by DC Comics on September 7, 2011 (cover date November 2011), launched a new series as part of the "New 52" universe-wide relaunch. It reintroduces the duo as avatars of War and Peace operating in Washington, D.C..
Story Synopsis: "First Strikes"
The issue follows Hank Hall (Hawk) and Dawn Granger (Dove) as they attempt to thwart a national threat:

The Conflict: A "science terrorist" named Alexander Quirk hijacks a cargo plane loaded with zombie-like "monsters of mass destruction" and sets it on a collision course with Washington, D.C..

The Action: Hawk and Dove board the plane, battling both the hijackers and the emerging zombies. They manage to ground the plane safely, though it clips the Washington Monument in the process.

The Tension: Hank is depicted as aggressive and resentful of his new partner, Dawn, haranguing her for not being as capable as his late brother, the original Dove (Don Hall).

Subplots: Dawn is romantically involved with Deadman, though she keeps a significant secret from Hank regarding the origins of her powers.
