Iron Man Annual # 1 (August 2023), titled "The Contest of Chaos," is a special one-shot written by Stephanie Phillips and Jason Loo, featuring artwork by David Cutler and Alberto Foche. It is part 5 of the "Contest of Chaos" summer crossover event. 

Iron Man vs. Storm

The main story follows a magical manipulation orchestrated by Agatha Harkness, who is seeking to create a new Darkhold. 

• The Lure: Both Tony Stark and Ororo Munroe (Storm) are drawn by mysterious voices and negative emotional energy to a remote crystal cave in Mexico.
• The Conflict: The magic within the cave amplifies their personal insecurities and past trauma—specifically Tony's guilt and Storm's claustrophobia. This forces the two heroes into a fierce, involuntary battle to determine a "victor" for Agatha's ritual.
• Outcome: After a pitched struggle, they eventually recognize they are being manipulated. While they survive the encounter, the magical energy generated by their fight contributes to Agatha's grand design. 

The issue also includes a backup segment focusing on Jessica Jones and Spider-Man. They use Jessica's detective skills to investigate the series of strange superhero brawls occurring globally, eventually seeking guidance from the Sorceress Supreme, Clea Strange.
