Plot Summary: "Power Trip, Part I"

The issue begins with Dr. Mid-Nite running a gauntlet of tests on Power Girl at JSA Headquarters to understand her fluctuating powers, specifically the emergence of Kryptonian-only traits like heat vision. 

  • The Identity Crisis: Power Girl struggles with her conflicting memories—once believing she was the Kryptonian cousin of Superman, only to later be told she was the granddaughter of the Atlantean sorcerer Arion.
  • The Hallucination: She flies off and engages in a brutal battle in Manhattan against Garn Daanuth (Arion's nemesis), only for the JSA to arrive and reveal she has been fighting thin air; the villain was a powerful illusion.
  • Hidden Manipulators: The issue ends by revealing a shadowy menace—later identified as Psycho-Pirate—is orchestrating these events behind the scenes to torment her.
