Justice League #2 (2011) is the second issue of the New 52 relaunch, continuing the origin story of how Earth's greatest heroes first united five years before the modern era. Written by Geoff Johns with iconic artwork by Jim Lee, the issue is famous for the first physical confrontation between Batman and Superman in this new continuity.

Plot Summary: "Justice League: Part Two"

  • Batman vs. Superman: Following their encounter in Gotham, Batman and Green Lantern travel to Metropolis to confront the "alien" Superman. A high-octane battle ensues where Superman’s raw power initially overwhelms both heroes until the Flash (Barry Allen) arrives to help de-escalate the situation.
  • Common Ground: The heroes realize they are being framed and hunted as outlaws by the military. They discover a mysterious Mother Box, which suddenly activates and opens a Boom Tube, transporting a swarm of Parademons into the city.
  • The Victor Stone Incident: Parallel to the main battle, high school football star Victor Stone visits his father, Dr. Silas Stone, at S.T.A.R. Labs. The Mother Box Dr. Stone is studying explodes, critically injuring Victor and setting the stage for his transformation into Cyborg.
  • Teasers: The issue includes a classified conversation between Amanda Waller and Steve Trevor regarding an unauthorized landing on Paradise Island.
