Justice League Europe #27 (1991) is the second part of a three-issue storyline featuring the return of the classic alien conqueror, Starro the Conqueror. Published in June 1991, the issue follows the team as they discover that Starro has effectively enslaved the population of London.
Plot Summary: "The Vagabond King"
Following a mission they believed had successfully returned Starro to his home planet, the Justice League Europe (JLE) returns to their London embassy only to find a horrifying reality.
- London Under Siege: Starro has used the team to gain access to Earth and has now possessed the citizens of London, including the JLE's own staff and loved ones.
- Survivors on the Run: Most of the JLE members are captured or enslaved by the alien's spores. Only Captain Atom, Metamorpho, and Rocket Red manage to escape the initial takeover.
- Reinforcements: The three remaining members fly to New York to seek help from the Justice League America (JLA). They recruit Martian Manhunter, whose telepathic and shapeshifting abilities are crucial for a plan to return to London and locate the "central" Starro controlling the hive mind.
