Justice League of America: Vixen Rebirth # 1, released on January 11, 2017, reintroduces Mari McCabe to the "Rebirth" era. It serves as a one-shot origin story that leads directly into her membership in the new Justice League of America. 

The issue explores Mari McCabe's transition from a detached celebrity to a dedicated hero. 

• The Conflict: During a televised talk show about her philanthropic youth programs, a young girl named Charlotte Frank confronts Mari, accusing her of being a figurehead who isn't actually involved in helping the kids.
• The Mission: Charlotte reveals her mother has gone missing and no one will help. Feeling guilty and compelled to act, Mari uses her family heirloom, the Tantu Totem, to investigate.
• The Outcome: Tapping into the "Red" (the life force of all animals), Mari tracks down a human trafficker and kidnapper known as Spiderbite. She uses her animal abilities—such as the senses of a bear and the kick of a dolphin—to defeat him and rescue the captives.
• The New Identity: After the mission, Mari returns to the talk show to announce she is fully committing to social justice work under the name Vixen. 
• Vixen (Mari McCabe): A supermodel and business mogul who decides to become a champion for the oppressed.
