Justice League of America's Vibe # 1, released on February 20, 2013, serves as a modern reimagining of Cisco Ramon as part of DC's New 52 relaunch. Co-written by Geoff Johns and Andrew Kreisberg, the issue transforms a once-stereotypical character into one of the most powerful individuals on Earth.

The story establishes Cisco’s new origin rooted in the initial Apokolips invasion of Detroit five years prior.

  • The Origin: During Darkseid's invasion, a Boom Tube opened directly on Cisco Ramon. While his older brother, Armando, managed to pull him out, the event permanently altered Cisco's DNA and Armando was killed by a Parademon.
  • The Recruitment: In the present day, Cisco is a retail worker who can sense and disrupt interdimensional breaches. He is recruited by Dale Gunn, an agent of A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans), who offers him a chance at justice for his brother.
  • First Mission: To test his power, Gunn takes Cisco to a suburban home where a rogue Parademon is hiding. Cisco successfully unleashes a vibrational blast that defeats the creature, unaware that A.R.G.U.S. is manipulating his desire for revenge.
  • The Outcome: Cisco is officially given the name Vibe and recruited into the new Justice League of America to serve as a "border cop" against extradimensional incursions.
  • Vibe (Cisco Ramon): A young man from Detroit who vibrates at the frequency of a Boom Tube, granting him seismic and interdimensional powers.
  • Dale Gunn: An A.R.G.U.S. operative who acts as Cisco’s handler and mentor.
  • Amanda Waller: The shadowy leader of A.R.G.U.S. who views Vibe as a strategic asset for the government's Justice League.
  • Creative Team: Written by Geoff Johns and Andrew Kreisberg, with pencils by Pete Woods and a cover by David Finch.
