Justice League/Power Rangers #1 (2017) is the debut of a six-issue crossover miniseries co-published by DC Comics and BOOM! Studios. Written by Tom Taylor with art by Stephen Byrne, the story marks the first time the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers meet the core members of the Justice League.

Plot Summary

  • The Breach: The story begins in Angel Grove, where the Command Center is breached by Lord Zedd. During the chaos, the teleporters are damaged, and Zack (the Black Ranger) is accidentally flung into an alternate universe.
  • The Misunderstanding: Zack arrives in Gotham City, where he is immediately confronted by Batman. Mistaking the Ranger for a new type of costumed criminal, Batman engages him in combat. Zack, disoriented and defensive, assumes Batman is one of Zedd's monsters.
  • Reinforcements: The rest of the Power Rangers—Jason, Kimberly, Billy, Trini, and Tommy—use the damaged teleporter to follow Zack to the DC Universe. They arrive just as the conflict escalates, leading to a classic "heroes vs. heroes" skirmish that includes the Flash and eventually the Pterodactyl Dinozord.
  • The Greater Threat: The issue concludes with the revelation that Lord Zedd has also crossed over and may have formed an alliance with the DC villain Brainiac, threatening both of their home worlds.

Key Characters

  • The Power Rangers: Features the classic 1993 lineup (Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini, Billy, and Tommy).
  • The Justice League: Primarily features Batman and the Flash in the debut, with cameos and mentions of Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Green Lantern.
  • Villains: Lord Zedd and Brainiac serve as the primary antagonists.

Creative Team & Critical Reception

  • Writer: Tom Taylor, known for his work on Injustice: Gods Among Us.
  • Artist: Stephen Byrne, whose bright and clean style was praised by reviewers from IGN and AIPT for blending the cartoony Rangers with the grittier DC world.
