Justice League: Rebirth # 1, released on July 6, 2016, serves as a foundational one-shot prologue to the "Rebirth" era of the Justice League. Written by Bryan Hitch with art by Hitch, Tony S. Core Story: "Fear the Reaper" 

The narrative centers on a massive global threat that forces a fractured team to unite. 

• The Threat: An immense, techno-organic alien being known as a Reaper attacks New York City. It uses smaller parasites to possess human hosts, turning them into a hive-mind army.
• A Divided Team: The core roster—Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg—struggles to stop the Reaper from the outside and eventually decides to enter its body to destroy it from within.
• The New Superman: The "Pre-Flashpoint" Clark Kent, an older and wiser Superman from a vanished universe, is initially hesitant to reveal himself. Encouraged by his wife, Lois Lane, he ultimately assists the League, though Batman and Wonder Woman remain wary of this "strange visitor".
