King in Black: Scream #1 is a one-shot tie-in to the Marvel crossover event King in Black, released on March 24, 2021. It follows Andi Benton and the Scream symbiote as they navigate the chaos of Knull’s invasion of Earth.

Key Story Elements

The issue serves as both a tie-in and a continuation of the Scream: Curse of Carnage series. 

• Scream vs. Demagoblin: Before facing the main threat, Scream tracks the Demagoblin (the resurrected form of Shriek), who has been kidnapping and brainwashing homeless children.
• Internal Struggle: The story highlights the complex bond between Andi and the Scream symbiote. Andi constantly struggles to keep the symbiote's bloodlust in check, especially when fighting possessed children.
• The Power of Hellfire: Andi uses her unique Hell-Mark ability to summon hellfire. Unlike other symbiotes, she uses this fire—usually a symbiote's weakness—as a weapon.
• Showdown with Knull: The god of symbiotes, Knull, eventually intervenes, attempting to claim Scream. Andi uses her hellfire to defend her symbiote, ultimately proving that Knull is not invincible by burning his face and melting his sword.
