Knight Terrors: The Flash #1 (released July 11, 2023) is a psychological horror tie-in to the "Knight Terrors" event, where Barry Allen is trapped in a nightmare where his nephew Wally West is mortally wounded, forcing Barry to confront his deepest fear of failing his family. 

The world has been plunged into an eternal slumber by the new villain Insomnia, and every hero is living out their worst nightmare. Barry Allen's nightmare begins with a frantic call: a young Wally West (as Kid Flash) has been critically injured in a battle with Gorilla Grodd using the Spear of Destiny. Wally is in the hospital, his wounds refusing to heal, murmuring about a "monster" he saw in the Speed Force that caused him to slow down at a critical moment. 

Driven by panic and a refusal to let a loved one die on his watch, Barry ignores the inconsistencies of this dream world (such as Hal Jordan appearing in a ghoulish, reanimated state) and uses the Cosmic Treadmill to race back in time to the moment of the fight. 

In a major twist, Barry discovers that the "monster in the lightning" Wally saw was actually a distorted vision of Barry himself traveling through time to save him. Barry's time-travel created the very interference that caused Wally to slow down and get stabbed, meaning his desperate attempt to prevent the tragedy actually caused it to happen. The issue explores Barry's desperate, self-destructive mission to save his family, where his greatest fears manifest as a cyclical, inescapable trap.
