Last Days of the Justice Society of America #1 1986 (also known as the Last Days of the Justice Society Special) is a 68-page one-shot published by DC Comics in July 1986. Written by Roy Thomas and Dann Thomas, it served as the definitive conclusion for the Golden Age team following the Crisis on Infinite Earths event. 

Plot Summary: The Eternal Ragnarök

The story is set shortly after the Crisis, as the remaining members of the Justice Society of America (JSA) struggle to find their place in a newly unified universe. 

• The Threat: The Spectre reveals that in 1945, Adolf Hitler used the Spear of Destiny to summon Ragnarök (the Norse end of the world) to destroy the universe as a final act of spite.
• The Mission: To prevent universal destruction, the JSA travels back to 1945 and enters the realm of Asgard.
• The Sacrifice: The heroes merge with the Norse gods to battle the fire giant Surtur. They discover that to keep the universe safe, they must remain in a perpetually repeating battle—a time loop that they must fight forever.
• Survivors: Doctor Fate purposefully removes Power Girl and the Star-Spangled Kid from the battle, returning them to the present so the "young must be spared the fate of the old".
