Marvel Tales #100, released in December 1978 (cover dated February 1979), is a landmark double-sized "Giant" issue celebrating the series' centennial. It is particularly noted for featuring a rare original story alongside its classic Spider-Man reprints.

The lead feature is a reprint of Amazing Spider-Man #123 (1973).
- The Plot: Following the death of Norman Osborn (the Green Goblin), a vengeful J. Jonah Jameson hires Luke Cage (Power Man) to capture Spider-Man, dead or alive.

- Behind the Scenes: This 6-page story was originally intended as a "fill-in" but was placed here by editor Roger Stern to make the 100th issue special.
- Spider-Man Secrets: A 9-page section reprinting technical diagrams and facts about Spider-Man’s powers and equipment from Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1.
