The Premise: Pure Body Horror

Ditching the classic "friendly neighborhood" dynamic, this creative team is turning Peter Parker's mythos into a dark, Cronenberg-inspired body horror tragedy. In this reality, the ruthless Oscorp Corporationexperiments on a young Peter Parker in their relentless pursuit of eternal life, accidentally mutating him into a hideous, grotesque spider-human hybrid. 

When Oscorp begins applying the secrets extracted from Peter's twisted DNA to create even more monstrous human-animal hybrids, Peter must learn to embrace his horrific new form to fight back and stop them. Phillip Kennedy Johnson has noted that he approached this series as if it were conceived by H.R. Giger and directed by David Cronenberg, planning it to be the longest and most epic continuous series outline of his career. Horror-infused redesigns are planned for legendary villains like the Lizard and Doctor Octopus.

Marvel is organizing a strict, single-day launch event on October 7, 2026. Midnight Spider-Man #1 will release alongside Midnight X-Men #1 and Midnight Fantastic Four #1—making them the only three Marvel comics published that day to emphasize the arrival of the Midnight Universe imprint.
