• Dual Life: Holt operates a high-tech corporation and runs The Conscientia Institute for young minds while secretly acting as the superhero Mister Terrific.
• The Conflict: Michael's journey into heroism is motivated by personal loss and a desire to combat "science gone mad". The story sees him deal with a failed experiment that makes him contemplate suicide, leading to an appearance by his grown son from an alternate future.
• Key First Appearance: This issue marks the first appearance of the New 52 version of Michael Holt's wife Paula, his son Aaron (in a flashback/future vision), Aleeka Okafur, and Karen Starr (Power Girl's alter ego).
