Monster Menace # 1, published by Marvel Comics in December 1993, is a reprint anthology featuring classic pre-Code Atlas horror and monster stories from the 1950s, created by industry legends Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. The issue does not feature a single overarching plot but rather several short, self-contained tales.

The issue contains four main stories, each with an ironic or twist ending characteristic of the era.

  • "I Spent Midnight With the Monster on Bald Mountain!": Written by Stan Lee with art by Steve Ditko, this story features a sculptor who creates statues of good and evil. The evil statue is brought to life by lightning and attacks him, only to be stopped by the good statue, which also comes to life through unexplained means.
  • "What Lurks on Channel X?": This tale, with pencils by Jack Kirby and inks by Steve Ditko, centers on a couple who receive a free TV set, which is actually a device used by Plutonian aliens to hypnotize and enslave Earth. A chance action by their grumpy landlord accidentally foils the alien invasion, to the couple's great gratitude.
  • "The Terror of Tim Boo Ba": Widely considered a classic "deserved fate" tale, this Stan Lee/Steve Ditko story is about an alien warlord, Tim Boo Ba, who rules all he surveys. He is defeated in a sudden flood when an Earth boy accidentally drips water on his entire planet, which is revealed to be a tiny, scale model in the boy's possession.
  • "I Fought the Molten Man-Thing!": Featuring pencils by Jack Kirby, this story follows an airline pilot on vacation who encounters a lava-covered creature after a volcanic eruption. He uses an aircraft wind tunnel to cool the creature, driving it back into the volcano where it needs the heat to survive.

The comic features a new cover by Kyle Baker and a new pin-up by Steve Ditko.
