Morbius #1 (2019) is the first issue of a five-part Marvel Comics series released on November 13, 2019. Although it began in 2019, the series is often referred to as the 2019–2020 run because its subsequent issues and collected volume were released throughout 2020.

Story Summary

The issue reintroduces Michael Morbius as a tragic anti-hero struggling to regain his humanity. 

• The "Cure": After years of struggle, Morbius believes a permanent cure for his pseudo-vampirism is finally within reach.
• Monstrous Results: His desperate attempt to fix his genetics backfires. Instead of curing him, the treatment supercharges his condition, destroying what little humanity he had left and making his bloodlust more uncontrollable than ever.
• New Foes: The issue features the return of the classic villain The Melter. It also introduces Elizabeth Nikos, the sister of Morbius's first victim, Emil Nikos, who is hunting him for revenge.
