Mr. Terrific: Year One # 1 released on May 28, 2025, is the first issue of a six-issue limited series that provides a modern retelling and expansion of Michael Holt's origin story within the DC Universe.

Overcome with grief and depression, Michael retreats from society and sells his innovative company, Holt Industries, to the mysterious tech billionaire Athena Prescott. The plot in this timeline focuses on how a series of events involving his former company forces him out of his slump and into action.
• Present Timeline: In the present day, Mr. Terrific is researching the aftermath of Darkseid's death during the "DC All-In Special" event. He discovers that the energy signatures from the remnants of Darkseid might be linked to the events of his own past and the energy source (the Nexus Engine) being developed by Athena Prescott.
