New Super-Man # 1 2016 VF+

New Super-Man # 1, published by DC Comics on July 13, 2016, as part of the DC Universe Rebirth initiative, introduced the first Chinese iteration of the iconic hero. 

Plot Overview: "Made in China" 

The story follows Kong Kenan, a 17-year-old high school student in Shanghai who starts the issue as a self-centered bully. 

• The Heroic Act: While bullying a classmate, Kenan impulsively stands up to a supervillain named Blue Condor. This act is captured on social media, making him a viral sensation.
• The Ministry of Self-Reliance: Kenan's sudden fame attracts the attention of Dr. Omen, a representative of a secretive Chinese government agency.
• The Transformation: He is recruited to become China's own "Man of Steel" and is imbued with Superman-like powers via a process involving technology and kryptonite infused with the "qi" (life force) of the deceased New 52 Superman.
